Life in Cala de Villajoyosa
La Cala is a relaxed seaside neighbourhood between Villajoyosa and Benidorm, with cafés, restaurants, supermarkets and a seafront promenade. La Cala beach is about 1 km away – roughly a 15-minute walk. Benidorm is around 10 minutes by car, the colourful old town of Villajoyosa about 10 minutes and Alicante airport around 40 minutes.
Lifestyle & surroundings – the coastal path
From La Cala, the Colada de la Costa coastal path – an old drovers' route along the cliffs – leads to Playa del Torres, a Blue Flag beach. It is an easy-to-moderate walk that fits comfortably into a morning: past the 16th-century Aguiló watchtower, the highest point of the route with views from Benidorm to the Serra Gelada and the Bernia ridge, and the clear-water cove of Racó del Conill, popular for snorkelling. Near Playa del Torres stands the Torre de Sant Josep, a Roman funerary tower built around 150–170 AD and regarded as the most significant Roman funerary monument in Spain – a reminder that Villajoyosa was once the Roman town of Allon.
An easy lock-up-and-leave holiday home, a year-round base on the Costa Blanca or a buy-to-let in a popular area – we will gladly arrange a viewing or a video call.
